  • Watercolor Wednesday: Pausing to breathe and wonder

By Leo Boucher. Used with permission. All rights reserved.

Pause for a moment and breathe. Imagine you’re on a calm lake, and the sun will soon set. Hints of the glorious colors the sky will morph into in moments appear, the pinks and reds beckoning. You inhale the sweet scent of calm, wanting to enjoy the moment, reveling in the wonder of God’s creation. You let your cares fall away, even if for just a short slice of time. You whisper a prayer of thanks, that God has given you this gift of being, of enjoying, of wonder.

Sailboats on the water… so many of you appreciated the sailboat painting by my dad, Leo Boucher, that I posted a few weeks ago that I thought I’d share this watercolor with you today. What’s the story behind it, do you think? Maybe it’s coming up to dusk, those moments of stillness and change in the sky’s colors that can strike in us a sense of wonder and gratitude.

  • Watercolor Wednesday: Harnessing the Wind

I’ve been remiss in sharing my dad’s paintings! Sorry if you’ve missed the way he expresses what he sees through his art. I’m back, and promise to be more consistent.

I love this sailboat painting of his – it’s a biggish work that we have hanging in our hallway. I see motion and freedom and the power of the wind harnessed.
