Life as lockdown eases can feel like we’re crossing a bridge under stormy skies. Is it safe to venture out? Has the worst passed us by, or will spikes of the virus keep reappearing?

May God give us wisdom and mercy.

PS: This bridge has been under construction, and will be for a couple of more weeks, meaning I can’t make my full circular walk in the nearby brook. Even bridges can be blocked at times!

  • Watercolor Wednesday: A bridge of hope

A fitting scene as we start Advent, for my Dad’s watercolor shows a barren tree, but signs of hope too in the blue of the flowing river – maybe it’s the river of life? – and the shades of beauty in the sky.

How could Advent be a bridge for you this year as you approach the Christmas season? Could you see it as a time of waiting in hope, of joyful expectation, even when the trees feel barren?
