Hello!
If we were meeting in person, I’d probably grill you about your life and interests because I love finding out about people’s experiences, passions, and callings.
I’m married to Nicholas, an English vicar, and we live in southwest London with our two great kids who are increasingly launching into the world.

My spiritual journey has included some mountaintop highs and a dark night of the soul. Yet in the day-to-day moments I’ve experienced God break in with his surprising grace, which changes me. I enjoy sharing these nudges of grace in everyday life, whether through my writing or in leading prayer practices (such as in my prayer videos). I love speaking to church groups, leading retreats, and accompanying people on their spiritual journey. I’m a spiritual director, associated with Coracle and the London Centre for Spiritual Direction.
I also really appreciate books. I immersed myself in publishing for a couple of decades and now focus on writing as I work with words. For 16 years I loved running the Woman Alive book club, which I founded and which still thrives.
I also love baking Ghiradhelli brownies, working out in body combat classes, and listening to the roar of the waves.
Questions people ask
We’re visiting London. Where should we go to church?
London brims with wonderful churches. You could try HTB (Holy Trinity Brompton), the home of Alpha, or All Souls Langham Place (John Stott’s church next to the BBC). I always enjoy the majesty of St Paul’s Cathedral, and don’t miss Holman Hunt’s painting or the American chapel at the back. Our church hearkens from the 12th century, but it’s a bit of a trek from Central London.
I’ve written a book that I want published. Can you help me?
Not directly, but please enjoy my posts on writing and publishing. Here, for instance, is how to get published. I share my tangled journey of trying to get published, including rejection.
I recommend joining the Association of Christian Writers. They host writing days (in the UK), have a regular magazine, and foster a lively Facebook group. They’re especially knowledgeable about independent publishing.
What about other types of writing?
Here’s how to keep a spiritual journal; advice to a newbie writer; how to write a devotional; how to write a great book review.
